Orange, SFR, others sign agreement on digital ID initiative

Orange France SFR, La Poste and the French banking federation signed an agreement with the French government to provides online IDs to consumers.
The IDeNum digital ID initiative project would enable the partners to act as third-party affiliates to issue security certificates. These certificates could be stored on mediums such as a USB stick or a flash drive.
The thought is, most people have around 12 logins to Web sites. This project would enable people to have one one secure ID, reports telecompaper.com.
The details are not finalized on just how far reaching this agreement is, or how many people will use it.
