A California company specializing in logon management solutions recently demonstrated at a Las Vegas security show how easy it is to add logical access control to HID’s iCLASS and Cresendo card installations.
Oakland, CA– Open Domain Sphinx Solutions, Inc. demonstrated the simplicity of adding logical access control to HID iCLASS and Crescendo card installations at ISC West 2007, held March 28-30 in Las Vegas. Demonstrations held at the Sphinx kiosk in the HID ConnectTM booth focused on using HID cards to “do more than open the door”.

“The goal is to create a cohesive development community around HID’s contactless technologies,” said Debra Spitler, HID Global’s executive vice president of HID Connect.
“Additionally, the newly launched HID Identity organization was created to support the simplification of multi-application credential deployment.”
The response from show attendees reveals that multi-application credentials are becoming mainstream. Access control providers report that customers often include a logical access control requirement with their building access control plans.
“A common customer question posed at the show was: How complex is it to add Sphinx’ logical access control capability to my iCLASS or Crescendo card installation?” said Wecker. “Customers are always pleasantly surprised to hear how easy it is, because Sphinx works with a customer’s HID cards immediately with no additional issuance or card setup step required. This includes multi-application cards that have been deployed using HID Identity’s iDIRECTORTM technology platform.”
Adding Sphinx functionality to an HID card installation is accomplished in a simple, automatic process. After the Sphinx software has been installed at end-user and administrator computers, cardholders use their HID card to self-enroll with Sphinx, entering their Windows logon data into Sphinx’ single self-enrollment screen. After the next re-boot, Sphinx prompts for the card in order to execute logon. Sphinx requires no change to the current Windows setup and works seamlessly with Active Directory, including synchronization of Windows passwords changes.
