Walluf – OMNIKEY, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of innovative smart card readers, announces at CeBIT the debut of its new CardMan® 3821 USB smart card reader. The CardMan® 3821 USB PIN pad reader is based on the existing technology of OMNIKEY’s successful and high speed CardMan® 3621 PIN pad reader, and furthermore features a user-friendly display.
The new CardMan® 3821 is modeled after OMNIKEY´s latest chip set design which has already been successfully integrated into the new CardMan® product family of smart card readers (3121, 4040, 6121 and 3621), guaranteeing the highest reader-to-card transmission rate currently available on the market.
The CardMan® 3821 is a class 2 / class 3 reader featuring a keypad for performing Secure PIN Entry (SPE) and PIN change operations as well as a display with two lines (2×16 characters) to guide the user through the PIN entry process. A special symbol in the display indicates when the secure mode is activated. Furthermore, default commands to be displayed during the SPE process are available in 5 languages: English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. Additional languages can also be programmed.
The CardMan® 3821 is especially suited for digital signature, banking and payment applications, making it the preferred choice for all applications that require high security with the use of a Personal Identification Number (PIN).
Consistent with OMNIKEY’s tradition of offering robust, technically superior firmware and driver support, the CardMan® 3821 guarantees the highest level of interoperability available on the market today.
The new smart card reader is designed to meet all major standards like ISO 7816, PC/SC, EMV 2000 (Europay, MasterCard, Visa) Level 1, Microsoft® WHQL, HBCI (Home Banking Computer Interface), USB, the PC-2001 specification and many more.
