OfficeMax has deployed new payment terminals in more than 100 stores in support of Google’s mobile contactless payments service, Google Wallet.
Google Wallet users can now pay for their office supplies with a single tap of their NFC-enabled phone, as well as redeem coupons and earn points with OfficeMax’s MaxPerks Rewards loyalty program.
The new terminals, powered by MasterCard PayPass, have been launched in OfficeMax stores throughout the greater New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington D.C. markets.
OfficeMax is now the first office supply retailer to accept mobile payments through Google Wallet, joining a growing list of merchants that includes CVS, Walgreen’s, Macy’s, Subway, Foot Locker and more.
“OfficeMax has used Google Wallet to make shopping easier by enabling shoppers to pay, redeem coupons, and earn MaxPerks with one simple tap of their phone at the register,” said Osama Bedier Vice President of Payments at Google. “We’re excited to have OfficeMax join a fast growing ecosystem by demonstrating how easy it is to implement the Google SingleTap experience.”
