Contactless card supplier Oberthur Technologies has begun delivery of its next generation dual interface payment card, called Chrysalis Fly, to S2p, the banking subsidiary of French superstore chain Carrefour. It is part of the company’s new universal payment card project that has been billed as one of Europe’s largest contactless projects to date.
For S2p, the Chrysalis Fly card represents a way to increase the use of payment cards, replacing cash for low-value transactions that represent the majority of transactions in Europe. The Chrysalis Fly product also combines the security of an EMV chip interface with Oberthur’s contactless applications, offering faster transaction times.
