To meet demand for the growing EMV, NFC and ID markets in Canada, Oberthur Technologies has announced it’s opening a secure service center in Ottowa, Ontario, Canada.
The planned 1,400 square meter facility will be able to personalized secure devices for Oberthur’s customers in Canada. It will be able to process magnetic stripe and EMV cards, SIM card and identification credentials. When open, it will be able to produce VISA, MasterCard and Interac cards.
The facility will be operational in the fourth quarter, and by its opening, it will have payment association certifications.
Oberthur currently supplies contactless cards to Montreal’s transit system. It also provides SIM cards to major Canadian telecommunications operators.
