The North West Department of Education (NWDE) has announced a province-wide initiative to capture biometric information of all employees. This initiative comes following the implementation of a biometric time and attendance tracker to ensure correct information for its payroll system as well as preventing fraud.
The system, called eDNA Payroll Integrity, was developed locally and utilizes fingerprints for employees to use the system, as well as digital pictures of each employee and a digital copy of their personal identification documents. Since mandating the change for their employees, NWDE has seen almost 30,000 people enroll in the system.
