Despite persistent rumors that the upcoming iPhone 5 would feature built-in NFC, it looks like Apple has decided to hold off on the technology, reports The Independent.
In a series of discussions with the UK’s top mobile operators, Apple has revealed that it will not include NFC in the iPhone 5 or iPhone 4GS due to concerns over the lack of a clear standard across the industry.
However, Apple did disclose that it is working on an NFC-enable payment solution linked to its iTunes store. The new technology will likely debut in a handset next year – possibly the iPhone 6.
