The NFC Forum’s chairman, Christophe Duverne, also senior vice president and general manager, Identification Business, NXP Semiconductors, will participate in a roundtable discussion with other industry leaders at the CARTES & IDentification launch conference, “Mobile and Contactless Applications,” on June 5, 2007 in Paris, France. The NFC Forum is a non-profit industry association that advances the use of Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. The Mobile and Contactless Application roundtable discussion, which is only open to the press, will address important topics relevant to NFC and contactless technologies. Roundtable participants will discuss the potential for NFC technology to revolutionize the use and applications of mobile phones, and the impact NFC technology may have on consumer purchasing practices and behavior.

WAKEFIELD, Mass.–The NFC Forum (www.nfc-forum.org) today announced that its chairman, Christophe Duverne, also senior vice president and general manager, Identification Business, NXP Semiconductors, will participate in a roundtable discussion with other industry leaders at the CARTES & IDentification launch conference, “Mobile and Contactless Applications,” on June 5, 2007 in Paris, France. Prior to the roundtable discussion, Mr. Duverne will present an overview of the NFC Forum, as well as NFC technology and its applications. The NFC Forum is a non-profit industry association that advances the use of Near Field Communication (NFC) technology.
Open to the press only, the Mobile and Contactless Application roundtable discussion will address important topics relevant to NFC and contactless technologies. Roundtable participants will discuss the potential for NFC technology to revolutionize the use and applications of mobile phones, and the impact NFC technology may have on consumer purchasing practices and behavior.
In addition to Mr. Duverne, the roundtable will feature executives from BNP Paribas, Bouygues Telecom, Sagem Défense Sécurité, MasterCard Europe and Inside Contactless. The roundtable will be moderated by La Tribune, and will include demonstrations of NFC applications. Sophie Lubet, conference manager, CARTES & IDentification 2007, will also participate.

As chairman of the NFC Forum, Mr. Duverne is responsible for driving industry collaboration among the 110+ global member companies, including device manufacturers, semiconductor producers, network operators, IT and services companies and financial services institutions. He is also the senior vice president and general manager of the Identification Business within NXP, the independent semiconductor company founded by Philips. In this role, he is responsible for global business management from strategy to R&D, industry and supply chain, and marketing for the Identification business. Markets include radio frequency identification (RFID), smart cards, e-government and NFC.
The NFC Forum will host the NFC Zone Demonstration Center at the CARTES & IDentification Conference & Exhibition in Paris, France, November 13-15, 2007 http://www.cartes.com/ExposiumCms/do/admin/visu?reqCode=accueil. The Demonstration Center will include eight NFC Forum member companies, and will feature the latest examples of NFC technologies and applications.
