NFC Forum, Smart Card Alliance gear up for 2012 events

The NFC Forum and WIMA, a global conference and exhibition for NFC applications, have issued a call for entries for the 2012 Tap Into Innovation: NFC Global Competition.
According to the NFC Forum, the competition recognizes the most innovative NFC solutions around the world, covering a range of applications and industries including payments, loyalty, health care, social media and more.
Awards are given for three categories: “Best Innovative Solution” for the entry that uses NFC in the most inventive way to address a market, business, or consumer need; “Best Business Viability” for the entry that offers an NFC solution with the most commercial potential; and “Best User Experience” for the solution that best leverages the power, ease, and convenience of NFC.
The deadline for all entries is March 5. Nine finalists will be chosen on March 19 and winners will be announced during ceremony at WIMA in Monaco on April 12.
The Smart Card Alliance has also announced that is now accepting proposals for speakers and topics for the NFC Solutions Summit 2012 – the “first comprehensive American showcase for NFC Technology,” according to the SCA.
Co-produced by the Smart Card Alliance and NFC Forum under the theme “Smart, Secure Mobile Payments and Non-Financial Apps,” the conference will cover the state of NFC technology, developments in new NFC devices and add-ons, the status of the growing NFC ecosystem, the promise of NFC-enabled payments and other popular applications, NFC implementation, and American and international market forecasts.
A steering committee, led by members of the Smart Card Alliance and NFC Forum, will select presentations on the issuance and usage of NFC technology in any of the following categories:

Standards and Technology: Smart Phones and Devices, NFC System Architectures, Standards for Trusted Service Manager (TSM), and NFC Forum Specifications.

Security and Applications Management: Security Architectures for NFC, Bank Card Payments Application Security, Identity Credentials Storage in NFC Devices, NFC Secure Element Architectures, NFC Application Download and Management.

Implementation and Applications: Financial Service Applications, Identity and Security Applications, Ticketing and Fare Collection Applications, Retail Applications.

Market Drivers and Business Models: Challenges and Opportunities for Financial Institutions, Non-Financial NFC services based on data transfer and peer to peer NFC modes, NFC Business Partnership Opportunities and Challenges, Use Cases for NFC, Reports on Commercial Services and Pilots.
