DigitalPersona announces Atlus biometric authentication system
DigitalPersona has revealed its new Atlus system, a biometrics-based solution that enables enterprises to authenticate customers and employees in real time via Intranet or VPN.
Unveiled at CARTES 2013 in Paris, Atlus features modules for onsite or mobile enrollment, identity verification and lifecycle management of secure credentials. DigitialPersona is also offering Altus professional services and technical support to help customers with every phase of their programs.
The Altus solution consists of a three-part framework: Altus Create for enrollment, Altus Confirm for verification/credential management and Altus Control for password management.
Atlus Create establishes a non-repudiable biometric database for secure enrollment and access to applications. The database contains digital identities that bind key elements, including biometrics, birth certificates, etc.
Altus Confirm verifies a user and provides an assured identity. The solution manages credentials — including updates, additions and revocations — during the entire life cycle (enrollment to de-provisioning). When users want to access bank accounts, government services, corporate networks or other secure assets, they simply place their finger on a DigitalPersona reader. The captured biometric is verified against identities stored in the database.
Finally, Altus Control provides access to computers and applications creating a convenient and secure single sign-on (SSO) environment using biometrics. This approach ensures seamless integration with core applications and prevents unauthorized access. Altus Control also provides organizations with a variety of audit trails and management reports.
HID Global reveals entry-level model to FARGO direct-to-card printer series
HID Global has revealed at CARTES that it will be releasing an entry-level direct-to-card printer for small and medium sized businesses.
The new FARGO C50 entry-level offering will provide an easy-to-use, more affordable solution for printing credentials with low per-card issuance costs. The FARGO C50 is ideal for small and medium sized businesses, retail organizations and educational institutions who wish to cut wait times, shipping charges and flexibility issues associated with outsourcing credential issuance.
The compact FARGO C50 printer includes an all-in-one printer ribbon and card-cleaning cartridge that is easy to replace and reload when required. The printer also includes HID Global’s Workbench diagnostic utility, which automatically monitors printer health, provides instant system status and notifies users when routine maintenance must be performed.
Also included is DigitalPersona’s Swift ID badging software for creating personalized IDs as well as interoperability with HID Global’s Asure ID card personalization software for additional design, database management and technology card encoding utilities. The C50 printer can also be used with the DigitalPersona’s EasyLobby Visitor Management Software, enabling users to create and issue secure guest badges.
