GlobalPlatform reveals its TEE security best practices
GlobalPlatform has published its first Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) Protection Profile, detailing the security requirements for delivering services and content on mobile devices.
The new document defines the level of security required for TEE to support the delivery of value added services such as premium content or mobile wallets, as well as enterprises and governments supporting bring your own device (BYOD) initiatives. The GlobalPlatform document marks the first PP exclusively devoted to TEE products.
The document also identifies the security needs of the TEE itself to support different market requirements. This can be accomplished by combining the standard security methodology outlined by Common Criteria, with the best practice specifications defined by GlobalPlatform. The TEE PP document specifies common threats that a TEE must withstand, the security objectives that must be met in order to counter these threats and the security requirements that a TEE must comply with in order to meet these objectives.
OpenWays technology helps hotel patrons skip check in, unlock doors
In partnership with OpenWays, Personality Hotels has outfitted its San Francisco locations with Mobile Key, in an effort to expand on the hotel chain’s urban, tech-savvy experience.
OpenWays’ Mobile Key enables guests to optionally skip the traditional check-in process, instead allowing them to open their room doors using any any smart phone on any mobile network. A global provider of mobile access-management and security solutions, OpenWays is streamlining hotel room access by using the principles of Crypto Acoustic Credential (CAC) to deliver an encrypted, secure mobile key credential.
From the moment a reservation is made, guests of the Hotel Diva and Hotel Union Square have the option to sign up for the Mobile Key solution. Upon arrival, guests receive their room number on the Personality Hotels smart phone app or via SMS text message, along with mobile offers and incentives from the hotel.
