Alliance, a provider of retail marketing solutions, has unveiled a new, RFID-enabled version of its MAXRPM retail display system. The new version deploys RFID technology to create an inventory management solution for retail promotional items, providing retailers and manufacturers with real-time tracking capabilities of retail promotion performance at the item level.
The new system offers retailers a promotional display unit that doubles as an automated inventory tracking tool. Data collected by the system offers business insights users can use to optimize the manufacturing, distribution, management and marketing of high-margin promotional inventory such as entertainment DVDs. The system is also reusable and customizable, offering a cost-efficient and environmental display option along with its more technologically advanced abilities.
The system is based on Alliance’s standard MAXRPM retail display unit. This unit is integrated with SightWare, an electronic module with an RFID reader designed by Seeonic, Inc. Products in the display are equipped with UPM Raflatac’s DVD Spine RFID tags. The wireless SightWare module collects data from the tags and communicates with Seeonic’s SmartWatch system, a secure, web-accessible business intelligence service and relational database. The SightWare module can also scan customer’s RFID-enabled loyalty cards to access another layer of information.
Alliance is a subsidiary of RockTenn, a major manufacturer of paperboard, containerboard, consumer and corrugated packaging and merchandising displays based in Norcross, Georgia.
