New RFID system streamlines the service drive at car dealerships

MyDealerLot has teamed up with AutoAlert to develop a new RFID-enabled system for use in car dealerships’ service drives.
The system uses RFID technology to automatically identify customers upon arrival, triggering a number of automated service and sales operations. Customer history data is automatically accessed and analyzed, allowing salespeople to determine at a glance which deals are available to a particular customer.
Dealerships that employ the system will be able to tell which of their clients are able to trade out of their current vehicle for a new one, which ones need an extended warranty, and identify those who may have a lease mileage penalty looming.
Three Mercedes-Benz dealerships are currently beta-testing the system.
