Convergence Systems Limited (CSL), a Hong Kong-based RFID provider, has launched its new CS101 UHF Gen2 RFID handheld reader. The CS101 offers a read range exceeding 25 feet with standard dipole passive tags and a throughput as high as 400 tags per second; a performance comparable to many fixed readers on the market.
The CS101 also offers a “geiger counter” mode for tag searches and item locating. In this mode, the reader is able to locate individual tags even in highly reflective environments.
CSL is offering the new reader through a number of resellers in the U.S., and has established a retail price of between $1,950 and $2,500 for the reader plus its main accessories, with the price varying based on the volume of the purchase.
