Company offers new standards-based solutions for MasterCard and Visa issuers
Paris, France — November 5, 2002 — Datacard Group introduced a portfolio of solutions at CARTES 2002 today that greatly simplifies the transition from magnetic stripe cards to EMV (Europay/MasterCard/Visa) compliant smart cards. Banks, service bureaus and other card issuers can use these solutions to personalize the full range of single- and multi-application smart card products offered by MasterCard and Visa.
The new Datacard solutions include all the software needed for the generation of chip data and the loading and personalization of EMV credit/debit applications on smart cards. A key element of the company’s solutions is a flexible scripting process that is fully compliant with technical standards published by GlobalPlatform, a cross-industry association dedicated to establishing smart card interoperability standards.
“Our new solutions make the EMV transition easy and affordable for MasterCard and Visa smart card issuers,” said Martin Kearsley, senior vice president and general manager of Datacard’s solutions group. “We can configure a highly flexible solution to meet the needs of any card issuer, whether they want to launch a pilot program or move directly into high-volume issuance.
“The flexibility of our solutions provides critical investment protection for card issuers,” Kearsley added. “Banks can issue MasterCard and Visa single- and multi-application smart cards with a single Datacard solution. They can also scale up quickly and accommodate increased card volumes as their programs grow.”
Datacard offers programs for MasterCard and Visa issuers that include special pricing on the new EMV solutions. Complete software, hardware and service packages are available as turnkey solutions for application development, pilot programs, high-volume issuance and other requirements.
“We designed and priced these packages with a full understanding of the technical, operational and financial challenges issuers face today,” Kearsley said. “They can count on us for a smooth, simple and profitable transition to EMV smart cards.”
