The Maryland Transit Administration is calling for volunteers to test out its new smart card fare system, according to The Baltimore Sun.
The new tap and go CharmCard system, scheduled to roll out fall 2009, will be accepted on all local buses and the subway, as well as on Washington-area bus and rail services.
The trial will continue through the spring, followed by deployment of the last of the software in the summer and total system implementation in the fall.
According to The Baltimore Sun, the MTA is still working on a way to implement the payment technology on the city’s light rail system.
