Morpho, a developer of biometric systems, has announced it has been chosen by the Malaysian National Registration Department to provide identity management systems for the country’s planned updated ID document system.
The system Morpho will be supplying for the new system is their Morpho Civis, a software-based solution that collects fingerprints with photos and personal data, which will be tasked with authenticating the identities of citizens trying to access government program services as well as expanding the department’s database to 30 million records. Morpho’s new solution is replacing a system that had also been supplied by them in 1997.
