Methode Data Solutions has announced the launch of its new biometric solution called LockTalk Data Center Security Access Control System. LockTalk is a physical access control solution for data center hardware that utilizes fingerprint biometrics to authenticate users and enable access to a secured area via electronically controlled locks.
The system’s fingerprint sensor was developed by biometric technology developer Lumidigm and utilizes multispectral imaging enabling higher reliability and better resistance to poor environmental factors such as moisture and ambient light as well as poor fingerprint samples due to skin surface contaminants.
The LockTalk doors come in a variety of forms allowing data center administrators to decide if they want an entire data center room biometrically secured or just a specific server rack or cabinet. Additionally, the software packaged with the solution allows for tracking of access by both time and the person gaining access to each secured area.
