Lyon College implements key card access to enhance campus security

Lyon College, Batesville, Ark., is installing a digital key card access system on exterior doors throughout the campus to restrict access to certain places at the school. Armed with a $235,000 grant, the college installed a contactless lock system. Those wanting to gain access will have to wave a special identification card over a reader placed to the side of the door.
The access system is scheduled to be fully operational in the next few months when Lyon students, faculty and staff are reissued new identification cards. Lyon College President Walter B. Roettger said the new system is just one more tool the college has to keep its students, faculty and staff members safe.
