LG Electronics is gearing up for a 2012 launch of NFC payments services in Europe, according to Reuters.
The Korean electronics giant says it is already beta testing contactless mobile payment technology, which will be targeted at small and medium-sized businesses.
According to Reuters, LG is looking to integrate NFC into its security systems and interactive TVs in addition to its handsets and point of sale equipment.
LG declined to give further details on the project, which is sure to see stiff competition from Google, Apple and Nokia in the European NFC payments market by 2012.
