Kumpulan Perubatan Johor, one of the largest healthcare groups in South East Asia, chose Labcal’s SmartPrint™ Technology for 4,200 employees
QUEBEC CITY, QC, June 17, 2004 – Labcal Technologies Inc., a company specializing in fingerprint-based biometrics, smart card and Public Key Cryptography identification and authentication solutions, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract by Kumpulan Perubatan Johor (KPJ), the Healthcare Division of Johor Corporation, one of the largest healthcare groups in South East Asia (SEA), to supply SmartPrint Sentry™ readers (SAC-3000) to 14 specialist hospitals, located all over Malaysia.
Through its Malaysian affiliate, Labcal Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., Labcal’s SmartPrint Sentry wall-mounted devices and SmartPrint Tribunus™ software are being installed and used in KPJ-owned hospitals, the largest private hospital chain in SEA. Labcal’s solution is being integrated with the current human resources management system, provided to KPJ by KaiZenHR Sdn Bhd. Hospitals’ employees ID (smart cards) are verified with SmartPrint Sentry devices that compare the individual’s fingerprint with the biometric template stored on the card. Once authenticated, each employee has to clarify his or her job status, IN or OUT, using the integrated keypad. All logs, entries and exits, are saved in the biometric devices and sent to the KaiZenHR server in text files. Logs and fingerprint templates are managed by SmartPrint Tribunus software.
The SmartPrint Sentry is a wall-mounted fingerprint and smart card reader for physical access control and time & attendance. To regulate access, the intuitive verification device senses a user’s finger and compares the reading to a compressed version of his or her fingerprint stored on a smart card, in the reader’s memory, or on a server.
“This project with KPJ in Malaysia confirms Labcal’s position as a well-established fingerprint-based biometric solution provider in the region,” declared Hugues Gervais, Vice-President of Business Development of Labcal. “Our affiliate office is doing a wonderful job and many great projects are still to come.”
“Fingerprint-based biometrics is becoming more and more accepted and used by organisations in Malaysia,” said Abdul-Rahman Soltan, Managing Director of Labcal Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. “With Labcal’s solutions being chosen by major companies such as KPJ, we just show how strong and robust our biometric authentication solutions are.”
