L-1 Identity Solutions, a developer of biometric and identity technology, has announced it has acquired nearly all the tangible and intangible assets of fellow biometrics developer Retica Systems.
Among the assets acquired include Retica’s iris-on-the-move and iris-at-a-distance iris recognition systems inventory, software, intellectual property and exiting customer contracts.
The two systems from Retica will help improve L-1’s capabilities to provide large-scale civilian identification systems that require the ability to ascertain identities from moving people or from a long distance. Other Retica-developed systems expected to assist L-1 in these ventures include Mobile Eyes and Eagle Eyes which are cameras that capture both irises simultaneously or can identify individuals in crowds, respectively.
