Intellident has announced that it will continue and expand its two-year-old partnership with UK library services provider Askews. The collaboration provides high-volume source tagging of items to the academic and public library sector, a growing and evolving segment of the RFID market.
Intellident and Askews provide customer libraries with shelf-ready – RFID tags programmed and security activated – items, allowing staff to take stock directly to the shelf for immediate distribution. Individual libraries can specify bespoke designs or have their design created by Intellident; including images, barcode, book title and book author, all of which can be overprinted. The shelf-ready material is delivered to the library with no additional programming costs to the customer and minimal additional servicing charges.
Both Intellident’s open-standard label and tags from other self-service vendors can be incorporated into the pre-programming package, so all shelf-ready stock is pre-tagged at source and will conform to UK standards.
“Askews and Intellident have worked closely over the last two years to service the early adopters of RFID, but we are now seeing an increased demand for shelf-ready items from our customers, as the technology becomes more common place,” Tim Cotterall, Askews commercial director, said. “We will continue to take advantage of Intellident’s technology experience in the market, which allows us to focus on the servicing of the items.”
