French payment solutions provider Ingenico has announced that shipments of its contactless payment terminals with NFC technology doubled in 2010. According to Ingenico, 21% of the company’s terminals sold in 2010 were equipped with contactless technology, twice the rate of 2009.
Ingenico’s Telium terminals support NFC ISO18092 and are capable of accepting value added services applications such as couponing, loyalty, rewards and more.
The company, which certified its first contactless terminal in 2004, has been steadily piloting the technology in the countries in which it operates, including France, Brazil, the U.S. and Singapore.
