Ingenico, a worldwide provider of payment transactions solutions, has received approval for its iPP350 payment device in Germany for the new contactless payment method, called girogo.
The Ingenico iPP350 payment device has been approved for all of the card-based payment methods relevant in Germany and has been in operation in the German city of Hanover since mid 2012, in several hundred retail outlets.
The iPP350 features a card reader for chip, magnetic stripe and contactless cards. The terminal’s NFC reader is located near its color display and is able to process all known contactless payment methods.
Ingenico is also working to achieve girogo approval for its other product lines. Plans are in place to soon additionally accept girogo on its iCT250 countertop terminal and its iWL 250 wireless terminal.
Developed by the German Banking Industry Committee (DK), girogo is the new contactless payment function to offers consumers the ability to make quick and convenient payments of up to 20 euros.
