India university deploys biometrics for tracking teacher attendance

India-based Bangalore University has implemented a biometrics system to mark attendance of its teachers, reports the Bangalore Mirror.
While the new system was not welcomed with open arms by all, the university said it would certainly increase attendance of along with punctuality and regularity.
At first, teachers disputed the new system stating that it made them seem as slaves and placed stringent guidelines on their time of arrival. The university responded by offering a grace period of 30 minutes to account for emergencies.
