Massachusetts-based biometric developer, Imprivata, has purchased Texas-based biometrics developer IdentiPHI, according to an Austin Business Journal article. The news is following the February filing of chapter 11 bankruptcy by IdentiPHI whom had recently purchased Saflink Corp., a financially struggling biometric developer.
With the acquisition, Imprivata is gaining access to a number of patents for existing technology as well as some still in development phases. This includes fingerprint, iris and facial biometrics as well as smart card technology.
