Intelligent Global Pooling Systems (iGPS) has enlisted machine-to-machine provider, Numerex Corp. to further enhance its services, according to The Produce News.
Having already signed an agreement with Enfora, Numerex and Enfora will work together with iGPS to provide global monitoring of its RFID-enabled, 100% recyclable all-plastic pallets, and do so through the use of the Numerex WorldPass global network service.
Under the terms of the Enfora agreement, iGPS will equip its pallets with the Enfora Spider AT asset tag and will be utilized to retrieve information about iGPS pallets, including iGPS-defined alerts, specific events and pallet location.
The Spider AT chip is embedded into the pallets and communicates, either by global positioning system or cell transmission, the location of the pallet at predetermined times or if certain events occur, such as crossing a border. However, iGPS is also looking to enhance the technology to include temperature monitoring.
