Carroll University installed new Blackboard Card Readers to ensure only eligible, currently enrolled students are permitted access to Carroll’s athletic facilities.
According to The New Perspective, the university requires all students entering the Van Male Gymnasium and several other Carroll athletic facilities to swipe their PiONEer card. Officials said the system will verify and confirm their eligibility to utilize the facilities – limiting facility usage only to those permitted to use it.
In order to be eligible, part-time students must pay an annual membership fee of $50. The fee is waived for faculty, staff and full-time students, but a waiver must be filled out prior to use of facilities.
The PiONEer Card, the official campus card of Carroll University, supports various other campus facilities services including meal plans, dining dollars, door access and library services. The card can also be used to access the Carroll Ca$h account for use in copy & print, vending machines, laundry services, bookstore purchases and purchases at participating local merchants.
