The Hong Kong Police Force has contracted with Identive to use its smart card readers in order to comply with its new security policies. Identive will work through its Hong Kong partner AMCL to supply 12,500 readers this quarter.
The police force recently implemented new IT policies to prevent unauthorized access and protect confidential information. The policies include using smart card identification credentials for employee authentication. Along with determining who is accessing the system, the police force will also be able to track who access what information within the system.
The chipsets for the readers will accommodate both contact and contactless smart cards. They’ve also been designed to include secure access modules.
