The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) engaged HJP Consulting to run a seminar on the International Civil Aviation Organization Public Key Directory (PKD) for government authorities of the Republic of Albania.
The seminar was conducted by Markus Hartmann, CEO, and Dirk Hartmann, senior consultant of HJP Consulting, Germany. HJP demonstrated the benefits of joining the ICAO PKD to increase the security of international travel using electronic passports.
The workshop as a whole brought together 12 Albanian representatives from border, state registry and information technology agencies to learn how the ICAO PKD functions as a multilateral technical platform enabling border control to effectively validate electronic security features stored in the biometric Passport (ePassport).
The Transnational Threats Department/Action against Terrorism Unit undertook to organize these PKD seminars following the OSCE Ministerial Council Decision No. MC.DEC/11/09 which “calls on the participating States to consider becoming participants in the ICAO PKD.”
