HID Global announced that it received EMVCo CL 2.0 Level 1 type approvalfor its OMNIKEY 5321 PAY USB Reader that is designed for contactless payment applications. The reader, which will be introduced at the CARTES & IDentification exhibition in Paris, joins the range of contactless solutions from HID that serve customers in Automatic Fare Collection, banking and contactless payment, loyalty programs and vending applications.
The EMVCo approval is based on requirements stated in the EMV Contactless 2.0 specifications designed by the members of EMVCo, including American Express, JCB, MasterCard and Visa. The reader meets all of the functionality required for interfacing with a contactless payment card and a SIM-sized, EMV-compliant contact card.
The OMNIKEY 5321 PAY desktop reader, as well as the OMNIKEY 5321 PAY reader board that has been developed for easy installation for integrators, both feature an enhanced antenna and special tuning and visual and audible signals as required by the EMV standard.
The reader is a universal device that extends the functionality of customers’ existing PC-based cashier systems. The solution connects via USB interface to systems running Windows XP, Vista, CE or version 7, thanks to its WHQL-certified drivers and PC/SC standards-compliant interface.
