Arjo Systems SAS, a provider of physical and digital identity solutions for secure government eID and ePassport applications, was acquired by HID Global.
Formerly a division of paper manufacturer, Arjowiggins, and most recently part of the security practice Arjowiggins Security, the identity division was recently established as a standalone company called Arjo Systems SAS. Its specific expertise is in deploying eID and ePassport solutions for government programs around the globe.
The company, its 100 employees and locations in France, Italy and Hong Kong will join HID Global’s existing Government ID Solutions business.
The acquisition brings together complementary strategies, customer bases and offerings around government-to-citizen ID solutions. It will elevate HID as an eID and ePassport solutions provider, giving it a proven eID/ePassport chip operating system and experienced integration services.
“Our acquisition of Arjo Systems significantly advances our Government-to-Citizen ID business, broadening our geographical reach and giving us critical mass … (as well as an) expanded range of capabilities for government agencies, state printers and local integrators,” said Stefan Widing, President and CEO of HID Global.
