HID acquires Crossmatch growing biometric capabilities, markets

HID acquires Crossmatch, the biometric identity management company, bringing its portfolio of fingerprint hardware and software to the HID brand. According to the release announcing the acquisition, it brings enhanced solutions for civil government, defense and commercial applications, as well as a secure multi-factor authentication software solution.
Crossmatch is located in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and was founded in 1996. It currently employs more than 270 people. The company’s commercial biometrics business includes an array of single finger readers, modules, sensors and SDKs. Its DigitalPersona secure authentication solution, evaluates multiple risk-based factors, including behavioral biometrics, for secure, frictionless access to mobile and traditional applications.
