Identiv PACs reader GSA approved
Identiv Inc. announced that the uTrust TS ScramblePad Government Reader is now included on the U.S. government’s FICAM Approved Products List. The General Services Administration lab, which is part of the Federal Identity, Credential, and Access Management (FICAM) Testing Program, has evaluated and approved Identiv’s uTrust TS ScramblePad, joining the mullion, wall mount, and keypad models on the APL.
The uTrust TS ScramblePad is an update to the company’s patented scrambling keypad door reader for high-security government and commercial entryways. The update modernizes its predecessor by adding new high-security features, including support for more than 1,500 credentials such as PIV, PIV-I, CAC, FICAM E-PACS, PKI, DESFire EV1, MIFARE, and PLAID. Using open communication protocol standards such as Wiegand, RS-485, and Ethernet networking, the uTrust TS ScramblePad offers simple migration from the previous ScramblePads to RS-485, or Ethernet-based FICAM E-PACS compliance.
Identiv’s uTrust TS Government Readers are designed for U.S. government customers to support any existing building access system — such as Identiv, Lenel, AMAG, Honeywell, or Software House — and provide a forward path to FICAM compliance. Featuring a built-in secure processor certified to the highest standards (EAL 6+), uTrust TS Readers support all major commercial and government access credentials, including U.S. government PIV, PIV-I, and CAC. The uTrust TS ScramblePad adds a modernized version of the industry-standard scrambling keypad. All form factors and models have been evaluated and approved on the APL.
HID unveils PIN token
HID Global expanded its offering of identity assurance portfolio with the addition of the ActivID Flexi Token. The new solution is aimed at financial institutions and enterprises seeking a PIN pad token for mass deployment.
The hardware token can be graphically customized and includes options for on-site initialization to protect data and enhance security programming.
ActivID Flexi Tokens are designed to minimize an organization’s costs for protecting data in high-volume deployments using a two-factor authentication device. The tokens are easy to mail and carry, and feature an intuitive interface with icons and messages that simplify usage through visual prompts. The token can be utilized for user authentication — OTP or challenge and response — transaction signing and host verification through a dedicated button on the device.
Supporting a choice of security services, standards and algorithms, the solution aims for flexibility in protecting critical data. It also improves security while accommodating “on demand” availability requirements by enabling banks and enterprises to use own their own authentication keys or reinitialize products on-site when new keys must be issued.
SALTO, Zaplox partner for hotel BLE deployments
Zaplox, a provider of mobile key services for the global hospitality industry, has integrated its solution with SALTO Systems. This partnership enables any property with SALTO Bluetooth Low Energy enabled locks installed to implement mobile access functionality for their guests, while experiencing Zaplox Mobile Key Services.
Through the new technology integration with Zaplox, guests of properties with SALTO access control systems will now be able to use their smartphones for guestroom access, while enabling hoteliers to offer and promote services with full customization and hotel branding on the Zaplox Mobile Key Services app platform. A range of ancillary services, which can be made available in the app, includes mobile check-in and check-out, room upgrades, restaurant bookings, room service, special offers and more.
WorldSpace adds PIV auth
Deque’s WorldSpace, used throughout the U.S. government for web accessibility testing and Section 508 compliance reporting, now provides for PIV-compliant user authentication and single sign-on.
Federal = employees and contractors can now use their PIV card to login to WorldSpace or be authenticated automatically using single sign-on. WorldSpace is designed to work with PIV systems from any vendor. System administrators save time by relying on their standard authentication system and are assured that any changes to access authorization are immediately and automatically enforced in the WorldSpace system itself without any additional effort or diligence being required on their part.
Current WorldSpace customers will receive this capability as part of their current license and maintenance agreement. Implementation services to integrate this capability with an agency’s PIV infrastructure are available directly from Deque.
DOD orders more smart card readers
Precise Biometrics has received an additional Tactivo order from the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) within the U.S. Department of Defense. The value of the order is $107,000 and will impact third quarter revenues 2015 with the full amount.
DLA continues to invest in their mobility solution that provides secure e-mail and browsing capabilities on iOS devices. The solution is based on the existing Common Access Card infrastructure and adds to the overall usability of the smart card system.
