Listen to Buckwheat Zydeco and make contactless payments using a card with Paula Deen’s image on it? Believe it or not it is all possible during the Great American Food & Music Fest at the new Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ (June 13) and Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA (June 26). Fans can purchase concessions via a closed system contactless smart card program.
Phoenix Technology, Dejavoo Systems, ExaDigm, MYnizaga Consulting, and Smart Chip Technologies are collaborating with project manager and operator, Total Venue Control (TVC), to deploy the turnkey event management solution. TVC projects as much as $1 million in daily festival concession sales.
“Faster, wireless, cashless transactions mean quicker lines for hungry fans, who have increased their per capita concession purchases by 30%,” according to TVC CEO Cameron Wall. “Additionally, the cashless stadium program has significantly reduced labor and cash handling costs, and has effectively eliminated employee theft.”
The smart cards, which bear the image of featured guest chef Paula Deen, will be available at preloaded sums of $10 or more.
The Great American Food & Music Fest will feature food from some of the highest rated U.S. wineries, beer producers, and restaurants, as well as live music by acts such as Buckwheat Zydeco, Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes, Texas singer/songwriter Bob Schneider and Season 6 American Idol Finalist Melinda Doolittle. The Food Network’s Paula Deen, The Neelys, Top Chef’s Tom Colicchio, and Ace of Cakes’ Duff Goldman will also be in attendance.
