Global Payments unveils broadband payment solution in Asia Pacific region

Asia Pacific merchants saddled with slow dial-up connections when processing encrypted chip card transactions, such as those from EMV-compliant cards, will now have another speedier option, thanks to a joint venture between Hong Kong and Shanghai banking interests and U.S.-based Global Payments. Called Global BroadbandPay, it’s an Internet Protocol-based point-of-sale solution that can provide Asia-Pacific merchants with faster card processing services.
Processing cards over a dial-up can take as long as 30 seconds in some cases, but with Global BroadbandPay chip card transactions can be authorized in about two seconds.
