Gemalto will begin issuing clear window security feature in Swedish drivers licenses

Gemalto will provide the world’s first clear window security feature on drivers licenses for Swedish drivers. The Gemalto Sealys Clear Window is a transparent window in the pure polycarbonate structure for enhanced physical security that matches stringent expectations from criminal laboratory and national road authority of Sweden. About 600,000 licenses will be produced per year over the next three years. The new licenses will be released in December 2007.
Gemalto Provides Swedish Citizens with Driving Licenses Incorporating World’s First Clear Window Security Feature
VILLEPINTE, France — Gemalto, the world leader in digital security, today announced that it has introduced the world’s first clear window security feature on driving licenses for Swedish drivers. Under the contract, Gemalto provides the Swedish Road Administration with 600,000 driving licenses per year over the next three years – plus 2 optional years- including the latest innovation in security printing features: the Gemalto Sealys Clear Window is a transparent window in the pure polycarbonate structure for enhanced physical security that matches stringent expectations from criminal laboratory and national road authority of Sweden. The Swedish Road Administration will start delivering the new driving license to general public in December 2007.
