GAO RFID Inc has announced the release of its new temperature sensing RFID tag for use in cold item logistics or medicine transport.
The active UHF tag has the ability to transmit temperature data in real time, making it ideal for tracking refrigerated items throughout a supply chain, according to GAO. The tag can also trigger an alarm it the tagged item’s temperature exceeds preset limits.
The tag operates at a frequency of 2.45 GHz and can withstand temperatures ranging from –58 F to 302 F. The tag also features a read range of up to 100 meters and a battery life of four years, as well as an anti-collision solution that allows 100 tags to be read simultaneously without interference.
