Accelitec’s PayPilot suite of contactless transaction solutions has been seamlessly integrated with Fujitsu’s GlobalSTORE and CustomerCENTER POS Applications which will allow retailers to manage their preferred choices of payment types and to build upon their customer loyalty programs.
FRISCO, Texas–Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc. and Accelitec Inc. announced they have successfully integrated Accelitec’s PayPilot suite of transaction solutions with Fujitsu’s GlobalSTORE point-of-sale (POS) and CustomerCENTER loyalty applications. It is the retail industry’s first seamless integration of a .NET-based contactless transaction solution with enterprise point-of-sale and retail loyalty marketing applications.
The integration of PayPilot with Fujitsu’s and Microsoft’s retailing solutions allows retailers to manage their preferred choices of payment types, to build upon their customer loyalty programs, and to enhance their customers’ shopping experience. Customer transactions at the integrated POS can be tendered through automated clearing house (ACH), prepaid or stored-value, credit card and loyalty accounts via RFID-based technology embedded in cards, key tags and – increasingly – cell phones. This enables retailers to actively manage payment types to dramatically reduce the cost of transactions.
Leveraging Fujitsu’s Pervasive RetailingTM Framework, the PayPilot solution uses RFID technology to link the consumer to various touch points in the store such as POS, self service kiosks, self checkout, mobile devices and more. As consumers opt-in to their retailer’s programs, they will use the retailer-branded tags with embedded RFID chip to make their purchases, build their profiles, gather product information, and request a service in the store or on-line. The integration to Fujitsu’s GlobalSTORE and CustomerCENTER represents the first of a series of planned innovations that combine the capabilities of RFID-based transactions with core retailing technologies.
The Fujitsu/Accelitec solution will be demonstrated in Fujitsu booth #1613 at the National Retail Federation’s 96th Annual Convention and EXPO, Jan. 15-16 in New York City. Attendees can obtain a PayPilot key tag at the Fujitsu booth and experience contactless interactions on Fujitsu’s TeamPoS 3000 POS terminal and self-service kiosk.
The solution also uses Microsoft Windows Mobile® to support near-field communication (NFC) with cell phones. Thus, Windows-based smart phones can perform contactless transactions. Because PayPilot is retailer-centric and not simply devoted to enabling contactless credit card transactions, there are many more customer-centric applications available to retailers that will greater leverage cell phones as next-generation customer interaction devices.
“The PayPilot/GlobalSTORE integration is a great example of how Fujitsu’s Pervasive Retailing Framework is providing technical flexibility and business value for retailers and increased benefits for consumers,” said Scott Langdoc, chief technology officer (CTO) for Fujitsu Transaction Solutions. “Accelitec’s powerful software development kit gives POS developers the ability to quickly add new layers of contactless interaction to the application.”
“The PayPilot/GlobalSTORE solution brings speed, security and convenience to retailers and consumers alike,” said Tom Bartz, Accelitec CEO. “It provides more than just payments, and changes the ways that retailers can provide services to their customers while considerably cutting the costs of transactions at the same time.”
