Frisbie Memorial Hospital, Rochester, N.H., has teamed with In Motion Technology to deploy a real-time monitoring network that will virtually connect and manage emergency medical equipment, and improve communications amongst hospital staff.
FMH initially purchased In Motion’s onBoard Mobile Gateway to track vehicles and relay patient information from the field to the emergency room, but has since expanded its use to manage equipment and medications, as well as the overall administration.
In Motion’s Mobility Manager scans and analyzes information from the Gateways to provide staff with a virtual dashboard of information as it pertains to vehicles, devices and networks on a map. Using RFID tags on ECG machines and other critical equipment guarantees FMH’s ability to safeguard and locate the machines when and where they are needed the most.
RFID tags used in medicine bags and cabinets in ambulances alert hospital staff if they are exposed to temperatures that could compromise the effectiveness or safety. Staff can monitor when medicine bags are outside of a vehicle, and for how long and receive alerts if an ambulance leaves a scene without them.
