While facial recognition technology is commonly used in law enforcement and border crossings, it now has a new application: Making babies. Beverly Hills Egg Donation (BHED) has tapped into the technology to help its clients find egg donors that look like themselves.
Late last month, BHED started offering the service to intended parents. The service uses 3D software from Precision Donor to examine a provided photo. The software creates a virtual topographic map of the client’s features, then it searches its database of donors to find the best matches based on physical features. The software uses measurement, surface texture analysis and vector templating to create this list.
BHED offers the service through a paid, in-person or Skype consultation.
