Expanding eGo: use of TransCore windshield tags grows
TransCore, a supplier of RFID-based transportation solutions, has announced four transportation authorities around the U.S. have joined the list of customers using the company’s eGo Plus windshield stickers.
The RFID-enabled stickers take the place of bulkier hard case tags used in applications such as open-road tolling. The system is also being used experimentally in a number of advanced traffic management applications, including high-occupancy tolling lanes, congestion pricing and dynamic road pricing used to mitigate bottlenecks and increase infrastructure capacity during peak usage periods.
The eGo stickers are paper-thin and comparable in size to a vehicle inspection sticker. The stickers are priced under $10, compared to $25 to $30 for more commonly used hardcase tags, and offer improved performance levels. Early users of the eGo Plus windshield sticker tags have experienced two to four times the expected motorist adoption rate, indicating consumers may be more willing to adopt the less intrusive stickers than other formats.
