EMVCo, made up of American Express, JCB, MasterCard and Visa, has recognized IT3 EMV, a handset test device provided by Comprion as a qualified test platform for payment terminal Contact Level 1 Electrical Type Approval.
In order to receive this qualification the device had to meet the EMV Specifications. The EMVCo accredited test laboratory test the compatibility of chip-based payment cards as well as the functionality with banking and other payment terminals.
In addition to the IT3 EMV qualifying Contact Level 1 Electrical Type Approval Test Tool, the device can act as a card simulator that can assist identifying problems in the development phase of the payment terminal. The test system yields shorter testing and approval times of the terminal and offers an integrated digital storage oscilloscope allowing detailed electrical measurements and analysis.
Some EMVCo test laboratories are already utilizing the IT³ EMV for banking terminal Contact Level 1 Electrical Type Approval.
