The United States Defense Security Service, an agency serving under the U.S. Defense Department, has awarded ATSC, an information technology systems company, a contract spanning 4 years and valued at $6 million for providing and supporting an Internet-based biometric security system, according to a United Press International article.
The specific system the contract calls for is called the Secure Web Fingerprint Transmission system and is set up to biometrically secure information shared over the Web.
