Disney Store chain to undergo hi-tech makeover

Disney’s 340-strong chain of stores will undergo a huge renovation project designed to make shopping at the ailing chain more akin to a jaunt through Disneyland, according to the Motley Fool.
Test stores opening next year will feature RFID tagged merchandise that interact with each other when brought into close proximity. For example, if you don an RFID tagged tiara and walk past a magic mirror, Snow White may be prompted to appear for a quick chat.
In addition to RFID, the new stores will feature mini theaters playing Disney’s latest features and a scent system that can fill the store with the smell of Christmas trees during the holidays, or pumpkin pie at Halloween, for example.
The forthcoming renovations, incited in part by Steve Jobs of Apple, will be so profound Disney is considering renaming the chain Imagination Park.
