DigitalPersona released a new version of its Pro Enterprise authentication device. It now contains the ability to support a number of new authentication credentials, enabling organizations to mix and match the ways in which employees securely identify themselves to Microsoft Windows and other applications.
Pro Enterprise can work with PINs, passwords, smart cards, biometrics, contactless proximity cards and Bluetooth phones.
With this new release, companies can enable or require different combinations for the authentication process, including things you know, like a password or PIN; things you are, which includes fingerprints; and things you have, such as a smart card, proximity card or Bluetooth phone.
Administrators can specify certain types of credentials for different user groups and they can use Pro Enterprise to layer strong authentication over PC- and cloud-based applications, even if those applications require their own passwords. Administrators can also set underlying passwords to be randomized and hidden from users so that corporate applications and information can’t be accessed from uncontrolled devices.
