The Department of Homeland Security recently met in front of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary Subcommittee on terrorism, technology, and homeland security (in Congress, even subcommittees have committees) to discuss the progression of the US-VISIT program, now entering its fourth year. The members of the committees discussed the progression of the program, the program as a world leader (even though other countries have progressed further in immigration technologies), and the challenges it faces in the coming years. Of interesting note is a claim made in the report that states that “biometrics-based capabilities, while enhancing security, have not increased wait times at our ports of entry.” Contrary to many reports.
