Datacard, Morpho issuing INTERPOL travel documents
Datacard Group announced that it has partnered with Morpho to support the INTERPOL Travel Document Initiative.
Morpho is providing the secure ID management and document production solution used by INTERPOL in the issuance of electronic travel documents to its officials. Datacard Group is supplying its 3D laser engraving technology for these next generation travel documents.
INTERPOL is the world’s largest international police organization that works across borders to help prevent crime and enhance worldwide security.
Governments in more than 100 countries have trusted Datacard Group to provide secure identification solutions for over 400 ID programs. This includes travel documents, national IDs, driver’s licenses, healthcare and e-government applications.
Celeste Thomasson new president of MorphoTrak
Morpho is pleased to announce the appointment of Celeste Thomasson as president and CEO of its U.S. company MorphoTrak.
Thomasson’s path has enabled her to acquire extensive experience with the international high technology company, Safran, serving most recently as Safran vice president of legal affairs, a position she began in July 2010. Previous to that, she served as senior vice president and general counsel of Safran USA. Thomasson first joined Safran in 2002 as Legal Counsel of Messier Services and in 2003 she was appointed Vice President of Legal Affairs of Messier-Dowty.
Thomasson’s appointment follows former president and CEO, Daniel Vassy who is returning to Safran to fulfill his next assignment within the group.
SecuGen FIPS 201 approved
The General Services Administration has approved SecuGen’s Hamster Pro 20, a compact fingerprint reader, for use in the U.S. Government’s FIPS 201/PIV program.
The Hamster Pro 20 is a small, high-quality fingerprint reader that is priced for both small and large deployments. SecuGen’s fingerprint readers, including the Hamster Pro 20, work with SecuGen’s broad line of Software Developer Kits. These SDKs use SecuGen’s NIST MINEX certified template extraction and template matching algorithms. The SecuGen FDx SDK Pro for Windows currently supports the Hamster Pro 20, and over the next few weeks, support for the new fingerprint reader will be added to SecuGen’s SDKs for Linux and Android.
The U.S. Government and governments around the world use SecuGen fingerprint readers and SDKs. SecuGen is well known for manufacturing and supplying fingerprint readers that capture very high quality images, are very rugged, and are affordable even for tight budgets.
Aditium tapped for Madrid transit project
Aditium, a software development company specialized in mobile solutions for transport, events and retail, announced that Madrid-based Jiménez Dorado has selected Ticktrack for its private commuter buses.
Starting in March more than 10,000 commuters in Madrid will be using the new fare collection system on a daily basis to get to work. Commuters include employees from Banco Santander, Coritel, FNAC, Maersk, Microsoft, Orange and Symantec among others.
Ticktrack’s software is designed for transport companies seeking to update fleet management solutions at a fraction of the cost of traditional contactless reader infrastructures. The solution harnesses the capability of NFC host card emulation to turn a smart phone into a contactless card reader. To validate a fare, commuters simply hold their employer issued transit card over the driver’s smart phone when entering the bus and the trip is registered to the online server.
Ticktrack’s closed-loop system offers functionality, even when Internet connection is lost temporarily due to network overload or areas with poor WiFi. Ticktrack is compatible with contactless cards and NFC smartphones or devices. Optional features include two-way communication, allowing the administrator to send a message to the fleet for important notifications such as traffic jams or unexpected delays and the ability to develop applications for mobile phone users such as real-time arrival schedules and route planners.
